A mom argues against the use of the word "passion" when describing student's activities and interests. We hope to help CA kids find things they love to do, but they shouldn't become stressful or joyless-- that defeats the purpose! Despite sometimes contrary "conventional wisdom," colleges aren't looking for "perfection" or professionalism in their applicants-- they want to see authenticity and enthusiasm. It's okay for students to be "works in progress," still seeking their interests or pursuing various activities-- that's what college and the rest of their lives are for!
