MAP Assessment: Grades 2-5
The Lower School provides the MAP assessment three times during the school year (September, February, May) in Grades 2-5. MAP assessments provide information about your child’s current academic progress and their growth over time in literacy and math. The MAP assessment reacts to each student’s answers. In the testing world, this makes the assessment adaptive, or personalized to measure the needs of every student. If a student answers a question correctly, the test follows up with a more challenging question. If a student answers incorrectly, the test follows up with an easier question. Adaptive tests make it possible for teachers to pinpoint what each child needs in order to learn best.

With our new A-F schedule, we have dedicated specific C-Day mornings for MAP Assessments in Grades 2-5. We are asking that students arrive on time (8:00 a.m.) and no appointments are scheduled on these dates 8:00-9:15 a.m.:
  • Wednesday, September 20
  • Thursday, September 28
  • Friday, February 9
  • Thursday, February 22
  • Monday, April 29
  • Tuesday, May 7
We ask parents to support a growth mindset as students progress through each assessment period and within each grade level. During assessment periods (beginning/middle/end of the year), some students make small amounts of growth, while others may make larger amounts of growth. We want to support and honor that each student develops at their own pace. We are providing practice assessments for students as well as standardizing each classroom in the assessment process (desk placement, classroom expectations to support all learners, understanding the assessment format). I will share individual student MAP information with families upon completion of the trimester assessments.

What a fabulous 17 days of school!
