Summer Here We Come

By Bill Wolf-Tinsman
Despite the lockout and a couple of lightning events, we have done all we can to help students tie this year in a “bow.” This includes conversations, projects, writings, Capstones for Eighth Graders…and the list goes on. To be honest, the “bow” should never be too tightly tied or too neat. That simply is not the way learning progresses. Learning is often untidy with lots of twists and turns. If we do it right, rather than tying it in a bow, we have invited our students into an unending journey with inexhaustible learning paths to follow. In any event, it has been a lot of fun to help our students think about how far they have come as people and learners.

Today we start with a Town Meeting and then for Sixth and Seventh Graders shortened classes so teachers get to see their students one final time. For Eighth Graders, Capstone projects come together, and then we have a Continuation rehearsal, followed by a parent-sponsored celebration at Bear Creek State Park. We will take the Eighth Graders over to the park at noon, and then parent pick-up is at the park at 2:30 p.m. For students who need to ride the bus, we will bring them back to campus at the end of the party.  It should be a great day.

I have saved my parting remarks for my final On CAmpus article; that said, it has been so much fun for me to be a part of this school, this faculty, and this community!  If I can be of service, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best,
Bill
