ThinkingLAB and MS Social: Fun and Games Evening

By Bill Wolf-Tinsman
Thanks to the dedicated group of writers (parents) who joined Olivia Wall and Eric Augustin at our Middle School Parent Association meeting to explore in a hands-on way how CA teaches WRITING and THINKING in the Middle School. Ms. Wall and Mr. Augustin provided a window into the pinnacle skill of putting complex thoughts into clear prose, not an easy task for either adults or adolescents. This ability to think and write insightfully and clearly is a signature skill at CA, developed over time with the help of many, many teachers.

Congratulations to our Future City team, who recently returned from a fun trip to Washington, D.C. The group participated in the national championships and should be proud of their hard work and accomplishment.

Also, a reminder that tonight is the second Middle School social! This time around it is a Fun and Games Night organized by the Student Activities Committee.  Details are below.  Prompt pick-up at 9:00 p.m. is greatly appreciated by the chaperones.

If I can be helpful in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best,
Bill

Middle School Fun and Games Night:
Tonight is the MS Social! Our Student Activities Committee has set up a Game and Casino Night for all Middle Schoolers. The event will be held in the Campus Center from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The admission fee is $5 per student and more formal dress is highly encouraged. Please, no sweatpants/sweatshirts, shorts, or costumes. (CA dress code still applies).

Our different activities include:
  • Casino-themed games in the lunchroom area.
  • Board games / assorted activities in Sadler
  • Photo Booth!
  • Music
  • Soda and snacks
 Please note:
  • There are no additional expenses - $5 is all you need.
  • Casino games will use pretend money – Think Dr. Davis, CA’s Gus and my face on the bills!
  • Upon entry, each student will be given a certain amount of funny money to “spend.”
Funds raised will support Aguil, a student in Kenya whom the Middle School has helped for the past 10 years.
