A Moment to Take a Breath and ThinkingLAB Workshop

By Bill Wolf-Tinsman
I hope that EVERYONE has an opportunity to take a breath over this long weekend. It usually feels like it is coming at just the right time for students, parents, and teachers. At our recent Town Meeting, I had the chance to commend our students on how hard they are trying in their classes and the growth we have seen since the beginning of the school year. I also reminded our community about how important the little things—like please, thank you, hello, and how can I help—are to building our community.

I also would like to put our next Parent Association meeting on your radar. This is a ThinkingLAB presentation, which means that it is intended to give parents insight into some of our teaching practices that are designed to help students become critical thinkers, collaborators, and problem solvers. This year we are focusing on the writing process. The workshop is limited to 20 parents and is “hands-on.” Should you like to attend, please RSVP here.

ThinkingLAB Workshop - From Thought to Paper: Encouraging Young Writers
Thursday, February 23, 9:00-10:15 a.m.
Campus Center, Sadler
Each year the Middle School offers a window into our efforts to help students learn to think critically and problem-solve. This year’s focus will be Eighth Grade English and helping students become insightful and purposeful writers. This is a hands-on workshop for 20 people, so please come prepared to have some fun with Eric Augustin and Olivia Wall, our Grade 8 English team.

If I can be helpful in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best,
Bill
