Thanksgiving Cards for Meals on Wheels Participants

By Angie Crabtree
Dear Lower School Families,

Welcome snow season; we enjoyed the snowfall this week! It’s always fun to see everyone enjoy recess on a snowy day!

This week, we had our second FAMILIES meeting. As a reminder, a FAMILY consists of one adult and a student from each grade level (K through Grade 5). A FAMILY will typically have 7-8 members. A FAMILY remains together during a student’s experience in the Lower School. The goal of the program is to connect students across grade levels, provide an adult mentor for each student, and provide older students an opportunity to lead and support younger students.

We learned about the Meals on Wheels program and how volunteers support this program with food preparation and deliveries. The Denver area supports the delivery of meals to elderly residents each day. Each FAMILY created cards for Meals on Wheels recipients. The Lower School created over 1,000 cards in 30 minutes. We are excited for people in our community to receive a Thanksgiving card next week. If you are interested in learning more about Meals on Wheels and how your family can volunteer together, please review this link.

The Lower School Faculty, Staff, and I want to extend a special Thanksgiving message to all of you! We are so thankful to spend school days with your children, and we appreciate all of you!

Wishing everyone a restful and peaceful week!

Kind regards,
Angie Crabtree
