Four days and counting!

By Angie Crabtree
Dear Lower School Families,

Four days and counting! The LS faculty, staff, and I are excited to see everyone on Monday at the Meet and Greet. Reminders for the upcoming week:

Family Photo
As we begin the year as a Lower School family, we are asking each student to bring a family photo to the upcoming Meet & Greet on August 22 or on the first day of school on August 23. Preferable photo size is 4 x 6 and no larger than 5 x 7. We will celebrate our Lower School community and fill our hallways with our families as we begin a new school year together!

Teacher Meet & Greet
Our Lower School faculty and staff look forward to seeing you at the All-School Picnic on Monday, August 22. Lower School students are invited to their classrooms at 4:30 p.m. to meet their teachers and classmates. The picnic will follow the classroom visitations and will be hosted in the CA Sculpture Garden from 5:00-7:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and to welcome our new community members.

We ask that everyone enter the Lower School classrooms through the exterior classroom doors. Each exterior door is labeled with the teacher’s name and grade.

Water Bottle & Supplies
A student will need to bring a water bottle each day (labeled with their name). We have hands-free water bottle stations available in the hallway. Each student should bring a backpack and a filled water bottle to school each day. Each classroom teacher provides daily supplies (markers, crayons, pencils, paper, etc.) for students.

Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures
Parent Expectations: Pre-K
Pre-K parents will park and walk students to the sidewalk for drop-off with a Pre-K teacher for the Casita and the Cottage. Another teacher will greet the student at the classroom door, and a third teacher will be inside the classroom to assist students with checking into their cubbies and beginning the day. Please consult the Pre-K Handbook for information about the Brightwheel App that will be used to record attendance.

Parent Expectations: Grades K-5
We ask that all parents travel through the drop-off/pick-up line for the LS Circle or North Road. Parents should not park and walk to classroom exterior doors or enter the Lower School for drop-off or pick-up, as this disrupts the overall flow of arrival and dismissal for students and faculty.

Summer Packets
A grade-level summer packet was provided to your child at the end of May. The summer packet included the required summer reading, reading log, and academic practice to complete. This required and completed packet is due to the classroom teacher on the first day of school, August 23.

We will see you soon! It’s going to be a fabulous year of fun together!

Courage + Kindness to all,
Angie Crabtree
