Conferences, lockers, and future FUN

By Bill Wolf-Tinsman
Thanks for joining us for conferences this week. I hope that they have been informative AND an opportunity for our students to take charge of their education by sharing what they are learning, how it is progressing, what is going well, and what needs additional attention. After all, it is their education, and the sooner each student takes proactive steps to reach their goals, the better.

The easing of safety restrictions in the past weeks is leading to a cascade of positive outcomes in the Middle School.
  • Lockers: Beginning next Friday, students will receive lockers and begin moving between classes indoors. This also means that students should enter the buildings when they arrive on campus after 7:50 a.m. (Please continue to NOT arrive before 7:50 a.m. as we will not have a teacher on duty in the hallways.)
  • Lunch: We will continue to eat outdoors when we can, and when we must eat indoors, we will all be together in the dining hall. Before too long, we will also have the school’s drink machines up and running.
  • FUN together: It has been a long time since we have been able to come together as a school community to have a good time, and now we get to pack in some good old-fashioned fun between now and the end of the school year.

Here is what we have planned:
  1. On March 11, we will have a Middle School Movie Night at 6:00 p.m. in The Leach Center for the Performing Arts. Student Council is organizing this event and pick-up will be at the Upper School Circle at 8 p.m. Admission is $3.00 and the movies chosen by our students will be PG.
  2. On Friday, April 8, we will have a Middle School Social in the dining hall from 7-9 p.m. Student Council will send out information about the theme and the price of admission soon. At our socials, there is dancing, raffles, games, and a movie. We try to make it so that everyone who comes has fun.
  3. Then we are on to May with Interim and end-of-the-year closure events. There is the Giant Relay, Relay Day Festival, class parties, and, of course, Eighth Grade Continuation!

I can’t tell you how pleased I am that we, fingers crossed, can get back to this sort of having fun and building community together.

If you have any questions, or if I can be helpful in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best,
Bill
