“FUNuary” as a good month for learning

By Bill Wolf-Tinsman
“FUNuary” is in full swing. Special snacks, spirit attire, animals on campus, fun with the Superbowl…the works!

To be honest, I like February as a “learning month.” It is usually not great weather, so there are fewer distractions for young people. Kids know the school routine and our curriculum is in full swing. There are usually some ups and downs in individual student performance, and this often leads to important conversations with teachers about study skills, focus, and consistency of effort—all good things for young people.

I would like to compliment our students (and families) on how they have managed the last two years with various schedules, social distancing, and mask-wearing. The consistency of support for the school—and each other—bodes well as we move towards another set of changes in safety protocols.

Dr. Davis will be sending updated information regarding Jefferson County’s decisions and how they will impact our school safety routines. Once that is clarified, we will work with the Middle School students to help them be successful, just as we have tried to do over the last two years.

Thanks for your continued support. There is a “mini-vacation” heading our way next week, and lots of good learning to accomplish between now and then. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best,
Bill
