Great to be back together

By Bill Wolf-Tinsman
It is super to have everyone back at school. Teachers report that students are jumping back into the routines of learning. They are also quite happy to be together and to catch up with one another!

Tuesday’s testing helped us get a baseline on the health of our student and faculty community. While we did identify a few cases, the lion's share of Middle School students are able to attend in person. Hurray! For the immediate future, we are trying to make auditing classes from home as convenient and easy as possible, as we are likely to have some students either isolating with a positive case or staying home as a precaution when they have cold symptoms.

To audit, students only need to log into their CA account and then go to the teacher’s website and click on the link. Students at home are also able to sign up for study hall with their teacher in the usual way. While we want to help students continue their learning trajectory, we also want the priority to be resting and getting better, should they be feeling ill. Sometimes it is best to rest and then be able to come back to school a little bit sooner. In all cases, teachers will be here to help students get rolling again after an absence.

Just a couple of reminders:

Warm clothes: Please be sure students come to school dressed for cold weather. We will almost always move between classes outdoors, and for lunch we will be outdoors as often as possible.

Masks: For obvious reasons, we are asking students to wear their masks correctly over nose and mouth and to, if possible, have the KN95 masks or triple-ply surgical masks.

We are going to do our best to run as “normal” a program of studies, arts, and athletics during the Omicron surge as we can. Depending on circumstances, we may need to delay or modify an event or two, but our goal is to give our students as full and wonderful a CA experience as we can, while keeping the kids as safe as we can.

I am looking forward to the fun we are going to have together in 2022. If I can be helpful in any way, please give me a ring.

Best,
Bill
