Professional Day and Parent Association meeting

By Bill Wolf-Tinsman
We are looking forward to our professional day and our chance as a faculty to meet, discuss, and “retool.” It has been a terrific start to the year in the Middle School, and our scheduled professional days provide important moments for the whole faculty to come together think about what is working and make necessary adjustments to help students get the most out of the school year.

CA does a terrific job of supporting individual teacher growth on days like this and all year long.  Every teacher is encouraged pursue the area of growth that is most important to supporting student learning.  For a teacher new to the profession, this may look quite different than for one of our master teachers; yet, one of the great things about CA is that ALL of us, individually and collectively, value the professional development opportunities the school provides.

Similarly, professional days like this one give us the opportunity to work and grow together as a team. As a small example: tomorrow afternoon, the Middle School faculty will have a technology workshop, discuss some of the logistics for the coming month, and put the finishing touches on our service-learning program for the year.

I also hope you will join us next Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. in the North Classroom of Raether Library for our November Parent Association meeting. After announcements and a brief question and answer session with me, Sarah Burgamy will present. A more detailed description of the presentation can be found below. Note:  this PA meeting will NOT be zoomed. We’ll try to get that going again at our next meeting. Thanks.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SPEAK: Human Geography - Gender and Sexuality Explained by Sarah Burgamy

Tuesday, November 9, 2021, 9:45-11 a.m. - Raether Library North Classroom

Sarah Burgamy, licensed clinical psychologist, and owner/lead clinician at PhoenixRISE, a private practice in Denver, will help parents better understand gender and sexual orientation terminology and lay the groundwork to better navigate the human geography which surrounds us all. RSVP now.

Finally, Trimester 1 ends next Friday, so it is likely to be a “full” week for our students. Our teachers do their best to communicate with one another to be sure that student responsibilities are not overwhelming on any given day; still, it is likely to be a busy week for our students (and teachers).

If you have any questions, or if I can be helpful in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best,
Bill
