Great to have the Eighth Graders BACK!

By Bill Wolf-Tinsman
Hats off to our teachers and our Eighth Graders on our first week of having a grade level FULLY on campus.  The kids report how much better it is to be on campus AND that it is more tiring—earlier wake-up and the demands for classroom attention in person outstrip one day at school and one day Zooming. On the faculty side, it has been fun to see friendships rekindled and students long separated mix and get to know each other once again. Interestingly, one of the outcomes of our Mustangs and Rockies cohorts has been the development of new friendships. Our hope is that as we come together, these friendships can be maintained, even as students refresh previous important relationships.

On Wednesday, our Eighth Grade Leadership Team hosted a very fun Zoom faculty trivia contest. Some of the facts about which teacher was the first child in their family to finish college or broke an unusual number of bones was enlightening, even for me, and I know this group pretty darn well. In the end, Mr. Olmstead’s group triumphed in the finals over Mr. Luong's sprightly advisory team. Thanks, Leadership Team, for brightening our week with your efforts.

AND now for next week: We are excited to welcome back the Seventh Grade on Monday, February 1, and then all of our Sixth Graders on Wednesday, February 3. In both instances, the grade’s arrival on campus will be celebrated with an extra-long morning break and a special advisory lunch.
