The JOY Basket

By Angie Crabtree
In my office, I have a JOY basket. It is filled with a collection of pictures, notes, and cards from students, faculty, staff, and parents from August to now. I keep it nearby and pull three random items from the basket each Monday to reread. This practice always gives me a little boost each week, and it allows me to reflect on moments throughout the recent four months.

Even though 2020 has been a difficult and arduous year in so many ways, the JOY basket reminds me of so many beautiful moments that represent the wonder of our Lower School. From the turkey picture that says, "I  M  TKFL  FR  CRBTE"  (I am thankful for Crabtree) to the note that states, "I love my school. I love every day we are together at CA. And my Mustang Mentor job rocks.", each one captures an image or a story that reminds me of the joy and love that flow throughout our Lower School. I am so very thankful for the number of days we have had together on campus. The Lower School faculty, staff, and I appreciate your support since August and most recently during our remote learning days. We look forward to our return to campus together in mid-January.

I wish your family a restful and peaceful break. If your child or family needs assistance with any aspect of school as we return in January, please feel welcome to contact the classroom teacher, Brooke Hamman, LS Counselor, or me. We are all in this together!

With JOY from me to you,
