LS Mustangs and Rockies reunited!

By Angie Crabtree
Dear Lower School Families,

What a wonderful week! Monday was like a long-awaited reunion of friends, with the Mustangs and the Rockies entering the Lower School together. Throughout the week, I have enjoyed seeing the children running, laughing, and playing together. I have the good fortune of my office window overlooking the recess field. During lunch this week, a Lower School student shared this with me—“We are all back together, and I am in my happy place.” I couldn’t agree more.

We will continue with our current 10-day schedule (posted on your child’s class page). Students will continue to travel to their Specials classes in their Mustangs or Rockies groups, as a continued precaution to remain in small groups when possible.

The upcoming week is as follows:
  • Monday - 3R (missed due  to no school)
  • Tuesday – 4M
  • Wednesday – 4R
  • Thursday – 5M
  • Friday – 5R
For the upcoming week, the Lower School has two spirit days, since it was scheduled to be our Homecoming week. Please see this flyer for details:
  • Thursday, September 24 – Crazy Hat and Crazy Socks Day
  • Friday, September 25 – Show your Mustang Spirit Day
I hope that you will be able to attend the upcoming SPEAK:  "Ready or Not" with Madeline Levine, PhD on Thursday, September 24, at 9:45 a.m. via Zoom. In her newest book, Ready or Not: Effective Parenting in an Uncertain World, she focuses on skills that children need most going forward, given our uncertain and rapidly changing world. Please RSVP here.

Please know that we are working on the traffic pattern and flow at the end of the school day. We have more LS students being picked up in the car line than riding the bus, and this has created additional congestion in the pick-up process. The Operations and Security Teams are evaluating the difficult points on campus and working to make adjustments.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
