Here's to lazy summer days, family time, and books

By Bill Wolf-Tinsman
It is HERE – Glorious Summer!  Congratulations to all of our students who seamlessly moved from face-to-face learning to Zoom School.  While there was plenty of effort put in by parents, students, teachers, and administrators, we collectively pulled it off.  The payoff, of course, is in the skills learned and new abilities fostered.  I could not be more proud of our students, teachers and families.  Throughout the spring, the teachers and I have been generously supported by our CA families.  It makes a difference and is appreciated.

Yesterday, you should have received information about summer reading and math work to be completed over the summer.  Per usual, the emphasis in reading is the “routine” nature of enjoying a good book (audio books count, too!).  The math review is best done closer to the start of next year as the idea is to refresh each student’s understanding of what was introduced and practiced this year.  My true hope, though, is that this preparation is a very small part of our students’ summer;  instead, I hope that there is time for family fun, relaxation, connection and LAZY summer days in the backyard.

In closing, I would like to congratulate the Eighth Grade class as they move from Middle School to HIGH School.  Very exciting.  This group is ready!  They will bring terrific energy, high academic standards and a great attitude with them.  Good luck to all.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy summer; see you next fall.

Best,
Bill
