Wrapping up the year with Luau, fun events

By Angie Crabtree
Dear Lower School Parents,

We had a fun and festive Town Meeting showing our Mustang Spirit on Thursday! Save the date:  Last Day of Lower School Luau on Friday, May 29, 10:30 a.m. Details coming soon!

As you prepare for Summer, it is important to schedule time for academic activities. Research is clear: Students can experience “Summer loss” that can be equivalent to three months of learning, if they do not maintain and practice academic skills. The Lower School faculty, Mary Singer, and I have prepared a Summer practice packet to ensure that your child’s literary and mathematics skills remain strong over the Summer. The purpose of the Summer packet is to provide each student with engaging ways to practice their reading and math skills. The packet will include a reading list, reading log, math practice, and a skills list for Lexia and Dreambox.

Each child will be issued a copy of the Summer practice packet. It will come home with their belongings in early June. It will be in a bright pink envelope labeled Summer Packet. Please support your child in asking them to share progress with you periodically. The completed Summer practice packet will be returned to your child’s upcoming teacher on the first day of school in August 2020.

Friday, May 22 will be a Friday Fun Day for the Lower School.

The schedule will be:
  • 8:30 a.m. – All-School Closing Assembly with Dr. Davis
  • 9:00 a.m. – Class Meetings
  • 9:30 a.m. – Friday Fun Day Activities
  • 10:00 a.m. – Field Day Challenges at Home

I will send links for the All-School Assembly and the Fun Day Activities next week.

Kind regards,
Angie Crabtree
