Faculty Take Part in Trainings, Workshops

In anticipation of the 2015-2016 school year starting September 1, Colorado Academy faculty and staff are taking part in a variety of orientation sessions, workshops, and programs. "There is a lot of excitement on campus as the faculty return for professional development and prepare for the students," says Head of School Dr. Mike Davis. Lower School faculty division-wide are taking part in a specialized, week-long "Responsive Classroom" workshop. Responsive Classroom is a research-based approach to education that is associated with greater teacher effectiveness and higher student achievement. It has been recognized by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) as one of the most well-designed, evidence-based social and emotional learning programs available. "This training is very much in keeping with the culture and character work that we do with students campus wide," says Davis. "We are committed to helping students learn and practice the skills that it takes to act from a place of kindness, courage, and resilience."
