Girls Golf Takes Second Place in State Tournament

Congratulations to the Colorado Academy Girls Golf Team, which finished second in the 4A Girls Golf State Tournament yesterday with a team score of +71.

The Mustangs, who were in the lead on the first day of play, were later overtaken by Cheyenne Mountain High School by five strokes. Cheyenne, the defending champions, went on to take the win for a third year in a row.

Says Head Coach Beth Folsom, “Our kids played well. We battled hard but couldn't make up the five shots we lost the first day.”

While the girls are overjoyed with the result of the tournament, they’re looking ahead toward next year when seven of the eight players will return.

“We are excited to have mostly everyone back next year,” says Folsom, “and the experience gained this year should help us be ready to make a run at the championship in 2016.”

The Girls Golf Team took state in 2007 and 2008, and Elizabeth Kresock, CA ’09, was the individual champion in 2008.
