George Rodney Wins Again!

Goerge Rodney, who attended Colorado Academy from 1998 to 2010, took his second victory in a row for the men in the Freeride World Tour (FWT) in Haines, Alaska on Monday. His first victory came just recently when he performed the winning line in the Fieberbrunn event in Vallnord-Arcalis, Andorra.

The FWT is an annual series of events in which the best freeskiers and snowboard freeriders compete for individual wins across the globe by maneuvering through backcountry on dangerously steep, mountainous slopes.

“I can’t believe it, that was the coolest run I’ve ever done in my life,” said Rodney to Powder Magazine. “It’s the best face I’ve been on, almost like two [separate] venues.”

The 21-year-old skied the close to 3,500-vertical-foot course in powder conditions in Alaska’s heli ski mecca.

Stay tuned for the next (and last) event in the FWT, which will be in Verbier, Switzerland on March 27. There, three more world champions will be crowned. Congratulations again, George!
