Student, Teacher, Entrepreneur Present at 5UP

Colorado Academy students heard from three community members today during 5UP, a series of talks with the goal of featuring voices of the CA community in a shortened TED talk set up.

The presenters were Upper School History teacher Elissa Wolf-Tinsman, CA parent and founder of technology company Ibotta, Bryan Leach, and sophomore Rachel Harris.

Wolf-Tinsman’s presentation, “You Wanna PEACE of Me?” explored the ways in which you can allow an experience to take a piece of you, or, you can choose to let it be at peace with you.

Leach’s presentation, “Life is Full of False Summits,” discussed what happens when you climb your mountain only to discover a false summit. Leach is the founder Ibotta, the money saving app with 2 million monthly users that helps you save on everyday purchases.

Harris presented on “Solving Problems Without Solutions,” based on her work with her family’s nonprofit, The Road to Hope, which is dedicated to helping the children of Haiti. She discussed ways to view and approach problems and problem solving.

This was the second 5UP assembly of the year. Each series of talks includes a student, a representative from the faculty or staff, and a speaker from the larger community.
