State of the School Event Highlights CA Initiatives

Head of School Dr. Mike Davis presented his ninth “State of the School” report to CA parents in mid-March, offering a “dashboard” of facts indicative of the health and direction of Colorado Academy. Nearly 100 parents attended the event, and for the first time, it was carried on the school's Facebook page through Facebook LIVE.

The report included financial indicators, a report of reenrollment and admission interest, academic indicators, as well as highlights of numerous initiatives  -- from the launch of CA’s new REDI Lab program in the Upper School the pilot of Discovery Week programs in the Lower School.  Other initiatives place Colorado Academy among a select group of schools across the U.S. working on everything from a revamping of student transcripts to reimagining private school business models.

Davis is the eleventh Head of School in Colorado Academy’s more than 100-year history. Since 2007, he has led the CA community in a collaborative, multi-year strategic plan, undertaken a broad-reaching school culture project, led the effort to build CA’s new Upper School, implemented a series of 21st century curriculum initiatives, expanded CA’s experiential and global education offerings and service learning efforts, broadened the school’s work in diversity and inclusivity, introduced a 1:1 iPad Learning Initiative across all divisions, and maintained CA’s mission-based balance of academics, arts, and athletics.

The State of the School talk also included a look at CA’s current See it Through campaign, through which CA will renovate both its performing arts and athletics facilities. Already, the campaign has funded the renovation of the school’s historic Welborn House and created the new Ponzio Arts Center for visual and studio arts.
