LS Students Present Folktales in Music & Dance

Student creativity and imagination were on display this week as Colorado Academy Fourth and Fifth graders presented an evening of music, dance, poetry, and storytelling in a show called "Imagine."

Fourth Graders told the story found in the Caldecott Medal-winning folktale, Flotsam by David Wiesner. This wordless book follows a boy who finds a camera washed up on the seashore. 

 

Fifth Grade students embarked on a collaborative and creative performance project. They took inspiration from The Whisper by Pamela Zagarenski, in which a girl borrows a book from school, only to find that the book has no words! Fifth Graders wrote stories, composed music, choreographed dances, created costumes and props that brought to life some of the beautiful illustrations from this whimsical book. Congratulations, students!
