Swim & Dive Team Post Tremendous Showing at State

Congratulations to the members of the CA Women's Swimming and Diving Team who competed in the first-ever 3A classification of the State Swimming and Diving competition held in Thornton at the Veteran’s Memorial Aquatic Center on Friday, February 10, and Saturday, February 11, 2017. The CA women took twelfth out of 28 teams from around the State.
 Powerful individual performances were turned in by:
  • Senior Ali Altman, placing 11th in the 1 meter diving competition with a score of 314.4
  •  Sophomore Aly Gallagher, placing 3rd in the 100 yard Freestyle (53.47) and 5th in the 200 yard Freestyle (1:57.10)
  •  Senior Arianna Goldman, placing 20th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:17.39)
  • Junior Anne Younger, placing 4th in the 100 yard Backstroke (1:00.29) and 4th in the 50 yard Freestyle (24.74)
 CA women had three relay teams participate strongly in the State competition:
  • 6th place finish by the 400 yard Freestyle Relay (Aly Gallagher, Anne Freeman, Gretchen Carpenter, Anne Younger)
  • 14th place finish by the 200 yard Medley Relay (Aly Gallagher, Gretchen Carpenter, Arianna Goldman, Anne Younger, Alexandra Kaleugher)
  •  21st place finish by the 200 yard Freestyle Relay (Alexandra Kaleugher, Arianna Goldman, Anne Freeman, Gretchen Carpenter) 
 Coach Beckie Mutz says, “Everyone cut time and did very well.  I'm very proud of all of our competitors.”  

Of the CA’s swimming and diving team this season  Mutz says, “This has been a wonderful season and one of the most fun teams that I have had the pleasure of coaching so far at CA.”

Swim and dive coaches include CA faculty members Jason Koza and Paul Augustus,  along with Head Coach Beckie Mutz and Lise Kafka.
