Inspiring Athleticism, Challenging Athletes
For all Colorado Academy students, our physical education and athletic programs offer individual and age-appropriate sports participation. Our goal is to promote lifelong fitness, provide opportunities for growth and good sportsmanship, to show the benefits of dedication, hard work, and continuous practice, and for students to have fun.

As with all of our programs, in athletics we work to engender respect for adults, fellow team members, and opponents. For those who aspire to be serious athletes, CA offers some of the finest coaches and most competitive interscholastic teams in Colorado 3A, 4A, and 5A competition. Our teams have held state championships for men's soccer, women's soccer, field hockey, ultimate Frisbee, lacrosse, and women's golf.

Independent Sports Credit

CA offers Independent Sports Credit, with a maximum of one trimester in any single school year. The credit will be granted only for activities not already offered by CA’s Athletics Department. That is, student-athletes will not receive credit for playing on club teams when CA offers the same sport or activity during a concurrent season, nor will CA offer credit for a student-athlete in a sport that CA offers if that student doesn’t play on the CA team.

Six of ten hours per week must be taken Monday-Thursday with direct supervision by a sport/activity-specific coach who must submit a participation grade at the end of the trimester. An activity that demands only weekend hours does not qualify for independent credit. For a sports credit application, click here.

Athletic Facilities

Phase I of CA’s new Athletic Center, including a new 16,000-square-foot Field House, new locker rooms, and coaches’ offices opened in early March 2018.

Construction of Phase II, which will include a new climbing center, fitness gym, and training center, and a refurbished and expanded competition gym, began in March 2018 and is slated for completion in early 2019.

The new Field House will house P.E. and athletic activities while Phase II is under construction.

The finished Athletic Center will be 64,500 square feet, including new and renovated spaces. Outdoor facilities include a newly refurbished baseball diamond and dugouts, eight outdoor tennis courts, five athletic fields including an artificial turf field, and an outdoor pool.
