Colorado Academy’s annual tuition includes daily lunch service, which consists of a variety of fresh and healthy options for students. Tuition also includes all supplies (including iPads) and field trips for Lower School students and annual Interim trips (except where premium fees are noted) for Middle and Upper School students.
The school offers other services for additional costs. Those services are outlined below.
Colorado Academy offers round-trip bus service on 10 bus routes, including five late routes after Upper School athletics, so that distance does not deter any student from attending the school. Our routes serve a wide range of neighborhoods from Evergreen, Genessee, Golden, Arvada, and the Highlands; to Park Hill, Lowry, Wash Park, DU, and Hilltop; to Englewood, Greenwood Village, Centennial, and Cherry Hills; to Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Bow Mar, and Ken Caryl. The safety record of our bus drivers is exemplary and our buses promote our K-12th grade sense of community. Click here for information on bus transportation at CA,
including fees which range from $610 - $2,950 for annual round-trip service. Families may request consideration for Financial Aid for bus service if the family already qualifies for significant assistance for tuition.
Before-and After-School Care
The Before- and After-School Program is an important part of CA’s support for children and families. We offer parents a safe place for their students to be supervised in a high quality recreational and enrichment program; for students in grades 3-8, a quiet place to get homework started is also available. Raether Library is supervised by the CA library staff and is open for Middle School students from 7:30-8:10 a.m. at no additional cost.
Before-school care for Lower School students includes breakfast and is offered from 7:15-8:00 a.m. at a cost of $7 per day on a contract basis, or $8 per day to drop in. For students in Pre-K through 8, after-school care includes a hearty snack and is offered from 3:30 - 6:00 p.m. at a cost of $12 per day on a contract basis, or $13 per day to drop in.
Private Music Lessons
At CA, we have offered private music lessons on campus since 1973. 47% of the students in grades K-12 take more than 14,000 private music lessons over the course of the school year. Our private music instructors teach in studios in Schotters Music Center and offer instruction in violin, viola, cello, bass, voice, piano, penny whistle, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, guitar, music composition and more. For the 2016-2017 school year, 30 minute lessons cost $35 per lesson; 45 minute lessons cost $51 per lesson. Private lessons are available as early as the second half of Kindergarten and are scheduled as part of a student’s regular school day. Students perform in a variety of recitals throughout the year and also have the opportunity to participate in chamber ensembles, piano ensembles, small orchestras, jazz/rock combos, and new music concerts.
CA’s Outdoor Program is a hands-on way to learn about stewardship of the environment. CA offers outdoor trips as part of the curriculum beginning as early as third grade, as well as optional weekend trips for a small trip fee for students in Lower, Middle, and Upper schools. Trips have included camping and snowshoeing for younger students, and hiking, rock climbing, fly-fishing, and backcountry skiing for Middle and Upper School students. Click here for more information about CA's Outdoor Program.
CA offers a variety of world travel opportunities and exchange programs starting in grade five. Our goal is to nurture dynamic thinkers and active citizens of the world with our school exchange programs in Scotland (Glasgow and Edinburgh), Turkey, and Argentina. In addition, annual spring and summer travel options have taken students to China, Cuba, Peru, France, Haiti, and more. Families whose children are currently receiving tuition assistance at Colorado Academy can apply for financial aid funding for trips. Click here for more information about CA's Global Travel program.
