As I reflect on this school year, I am overwhelmed with appreciation for the remarkable community that makes Colorado Academy thrive. From our youngest students to our most dedicated alumni, each member of the Mustang family contributes something irreplaceable to who we are as a school.

On the very first day of school this year, a Kindergartner approached me with a simple yet profound statement: “This year, I want to help make this community bigger and nicer!” In that single sentence, this five-year-old captured the essence of what Colorado Academy represents. Our youngest students understand something that resonates throughout our entire community—that we are all here to lift one another up and strengthen the bonds that unite us.

Our students continually inspire me with their character and commitment. Our students, from Fifth Grade mentors to the Eighth Grade leadership team, from CLTs to team captains and Portfolio artists make a difference. These young leaders have demonstrated remarkable initiative and compassion as they give back to our school. Their dedication reminds us that leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about action and service.

The energy and spirit our students bring is infectious. During our recent Homecoming celebration, our Kindergarten class stampeded into the All-School Spirit Assembly with unbridled enthusiasm, sparking joy across the entire community. Whether it’s students competing in our inaugural Mustang Invitational Cross Country meet or preparing for global travel experiences that will shape their worldviews, our athletes and scholars are pushing themselves to new heights and representing CA with pride.

Beyond our students, I am profoundly grateful for our faculty and staff. When we welcomed acclaimed developmental psychologist Dr. David Yeager to campus for our SPEAK series to share his research on the “mentor mindset,” I watched our educators lean in with genuine curiosity and commitment to understanding how they might better support our young people. Our faculty’s dedication to continuous learning and growth sets the standard for our entire community.

This year, I’ve been reminded that education is not a solitary pursuit. Our families show up—not just physically, but with their hearts and minds fully engaged. Whether it’s cheering at athletic events, supporting our arts programs, or contributing to the vibrant culture we’re building together, families are essential to our success. The energy and investment our parents bring to Colorado Academy makes all the difference.

I am also deeply grateful for our alumni. You remain connected to CA in meaningful ways, serving as mentors, advisors, and inspiring examples of the lasting impact a Colorado Academy education can have. Your engagement strengthens our community across generations.

As we move forward, I’m energized by what we’re building together. Colorado Academy is a place where young people can grow intellectually, artistically, athletically, and emotionally, all within a community that genuinely cares about one another. It’s a place where a Kindergartner’s dream to make our community “bigger and nicer” is not just heard, but celebrated and actualized by all of us working together.

Thank you for being part of this extraordinary community. Your commitment to our shared values and mission is felt every single day.
