The beloved annual Lower School Halloween Parade always caps the day of dress-up, but in 2025, October 31 held a little bit of fright and tons of fun for every member of the Colorado Academy community.

The day began with a special Middle School event organized by the Student Activity Committee: a ‘Mummy Wrap’ competition that had everyone rooting for their favorite characters as the contestants tried to use a roll of toilet paper to wrap their friends.

The majority of Lower and Middle School students (and teachers) wore their costumes throughout the day—everything from Boston sports fans and the late Bob Ross to Labubu and the K-Pop Demon Hunters was represented among the many festive, creative choices.

Upper Schoolers got their chance to show off their Halloween spirit in a lunchtime costume contest. A crew representing the world of Super Mario somehow defeated a Willy Wonka-inspired effort coordinated by members of the Varsity Field Hockey Team.

It was all just a prelude to the day’s big event: a full-fledged parade around the CA campus led by Lower School students and teachers, who were cheered along their route by the Middle and Upper Schools.

Lower School faculty members as well as entire staff departments turned out in force for the festivities.

Many parents, grandparents, and other guests lined the parade route around Stamper Commons, and when the procession concluded, Fifth Graders assembled at the top of the steps to Schotters Music Center to entertain the crowd with a group dance choreographed by members of the Upper School Dance Company to the familiar chords of “Ghostbusters.”

The afternoon concluded with popsicles and dancing for all, before students and families departed to do it all over again with trick-or-treating and gatherings in the evening.
