Culture & Community

Student Engagement

CA students lead the way when it comes to embracing inclusivity.

Their commitment to one another and in building a culture that is representative of all our students is demonstrated through the various clubs and affinity groups in which they lead and participate.

Culture & Community Week

In the Upper School, student leaders from the Culture & Community Student Leadership Council collaborate with faculty to organize a week of learning, reflection, and connection to continue to build an inclusive and engaged community together.

The theme for 2025 was Diversity & Inclusion: Building Community, with each day centered around a specific focus aligned with our mission of fostering curious, courageous, kind, and adventurous learners and leaders, with activities designed to foster belonging and respect.

Clubs

Club meeting time is integrated into the weekly schedule. Most students find that involvement in clubs enhances their school experience. New clubs and interest groups are formed yearly, depending on student interest and initiative. Examples of clubs which regularly meet are:

  • Engineering and Design Club
  • Environmental Club
  • Ethics Bowl
  • HOPE Club
  • Horizons Club
  • Philanthropy Board

Affinity and Ally Groups

Believing that affinity and ally groups can be powerful tools for supporting positive identity development, CA allows students to petition for the formation of groups where students who are linked by a common identity can gather and reflect. Affinity groups may also be created by adult leaders, with the support and under the direction of the Community & Culture Leadership Team. All affinity and ally groups must support CA’s mission.
