Student Support

At Colorado Academy we are deeply invested in the health and well-being of our school community.

A school counseling department with full-time mental health professionals in each division takes a proactive and preventive approach to supporting students’ mental health through comprehensive, age-appropriate programming year round:

  • Small-group and individual counseling
  • A robust mental health and wellness curriculum including prevention and intervention
  • One-on-one and small-group academic support
  • Compassionate deans who know each student by name
  • A robust advisory program that fosters meaningful connections
  • Curated lessons and activities delivered in Lower School homerooms as well as through Middle and Upper School advisory
  • Guest speakers on topics of interest to both students and families, such as digital citizenship, anxiety, and suicide prevention

CA is proud of the “culture of care” it carefully nurtures from Pre-K to Grade 12. All of our students look out for each other and know when to seek help from trusted adults. Our families actively partner with our support professionals and trust our teachers, divisional counselors, specialists, and administrators to offer solutions.

Social Emotional Curriculum

Beginning in Pre-K, our students benefit from a deliberately structured program of social and emotional education, ranging from lessons in feeling identification and self-regulation in the earliest years to candid discussions about anxiety, relationships, and much more through daily advisory sessions in the Middle and Upper School.

Counseling Services

Our counselors strive to help all students meet their needs by offering early identification, intervention, and ongoing support, including wellness seminars, targeted small-group skill-building, and one-on-one counseling available at any time, on demand. All of our counselors are experts at recommending outside services when needed.

Academic Skills & Support

Skills such as executive functioning, time management, and self-advocacy are areas of focus in every grade, with academic support specialists offering both regular instruction for all students and targeted intervention. Individual learning plans and academic accommodations are available with appropriate diagnosis.

Community Leadership Team

A signature Upper School offering, CA’s Community Leadership Team trains carefully chosen Seniors to provide connection, support, and guidance for Ninth Graders new to the Upper School.
