Welcome to Middle School Admission!

We look forward to getting to know your family and assisting you in the admission process. We encourage you to browse through the different areas of Colorado Academy's Middle School program below.  Learn how the CA community cultivates student voice, respects individualism, and fosters learning.

Our Middle School students and teachers are fully engaged in learning, creativity, critical thinking, and social emotional growth. We are excited to introduce you to our diverse, inclusive community.

We encourage you to explore the website and invite you to learn more during a Student Visit and/or Parent Tour. Once you submit the Initial Applicant Form, you'll be able to schedule a time and date to visit campus.  More detailed application information can be found at How to Apply

Please reach out with any questions, and thank you for your interest.

Admission Checklist & Timeline

List of 11 items.

  • STEP 1: STUDENT FORM | DUE NOW

The Student Form is the first step to completing the application process. Once the Student Form is submitted, you will unlock access to the remaining steps of the application. There is no fee to apply to CA.

  • PARENT/GUARDIAN FORM | DUE BY JAN 15

As parents/guardians, your responses on the Parent/Guardian Form will help CA learn more about your child and your family. The Parent/Guardian Form is available once you submit the Student Form.
  • STUDENT VISIT / INTERVIEW | DUE BY JAN 15

Once the Student Form is submitted, you will have access to the Student Visit/Interview Calendar. We invite applicants to visit on a day when school is in session. If applying from out of state and you would like to request a Zoom interview/visit, please contact Paige Siemers to schedule.

Please note this is a student appointment only.  If you did not attend Admission Preview and you would like a campus tour, please refer to the optional section of your checklist. The Parent Check-ins are over Zoom and can be found in the required section of your checklist.

CA does not always have space to admit new students to seventh and eighth grade. The Admission Office will contact families to schedule a student interview if we anticipate an opening. Until we know whether we will have an opening, applications to seventh and eighth grade are considered for the wait pool. Thank you.
  • ZOOM PARENT CHECK-IN | DUE BY JAN 15

Schedule your Zoom Parent Check-In to occur after your student's visit. The goal of this appointment is to share feedback about the visit and answer any additional questions that you may have. Appointments last approximately 20 minutes. Contacte a Abel Ramirez al 303-914-2573 o por correo electrónico abel.ramirez@coloradoacademy.org.
  • RECOMMENDATIONS & TRANSCRIPTS | DUE BY JAN 15

Recommendation Forms* and Transcript Request Form are available once the Student Form is submitted. Please send requests to the appropriate faculty/staff members at the applicant’s school
    • Current English or Social Studies/History Teacher Recommendation
    • Current Math Teacher Recommendation

    • Transcripts from Current and Previous School Year (including recent student testing)
    • Optional Coach Recommendation
    • Optional Visual or Performing Arts Recommendation
    • Optional Additional Teacher Recommendation from a current or past teacher
*Colorado Academy is among several Denver-area independent schools using Common Recommendation and Transcript Request Forms to reduce the workload for an applicant’s current teachers and school staff. Once you have created an account in the application portal, you will be able to submit requests for recommendations and transcripts using the common forms.
  • TESTING | DUE BY JAN 15

CA is test-flexible and will accept results from any standardized testing or educational evaluation that a student has completed in the last two years.

Examples include the WISC, DAS, CogAT, Stanford Binet, MAP testing, ERB, ISEE, SSAT, PSAT 8/9, and Pre-ACT, and any state specific standards-based assessments among others. There is no need for the applicant to take more than one test, and the Admission Committee does not prefer one test over another.

If the applicant has not completed testing within the previous two years, here are some options:
-Register for the ISEE or SSAT.
-Register for testing with an evaluator from the DATC (Denver Area Testing Consortium).

Please contact paige.siemers@coloradoacademy.org to request assistance if any test fee is a hardship.
  • STUDENT VIDEO | DUE BY JAN 15

The Student Video is available once the Student Form is submitted.
  • OPTIONAL CAMPUS TOUR

Prospective families may schedule an optional campus tour by first submitting the Student Form. Once submitted, you will have access to the campus tour calendar in the applicant checklist.

Please contact admission@coloradoacademy.org or call 303-914-2513 with any questions.
  • FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION | DUE BEFORE FEB 15

With over $4.5 million in tuition assistance each year, CA welcomes students and families from all backgrounds and encourages families to consider CA no matter your income.

The Application for Financial Aid is separate from the Application for Admission, although the timing of both cycles overlaps. Families who wish to apply for tuition assistance should submit an Application for Financial Aid through SSS (School and Student Service for Financial Aid).

    • We recommend starting the application after January 1 as it is helpful to have end-of-year tax documents available while you are completing the form: START APPLICATION
    • Within the SSS portal, you will be asked to upload copies of your 2021 and 2022 tax returns. You will also be asked for copies of 2021 and 2022 W-2 and K-1 statements, if those apply.
    • CA prefers the SSS application, but, if you've already submitted a financial aid application for another school through FACTS, there is no need to fill out an additional application through SSS. You will only need to add Colorado Academy as a recipient on your FACTS application.
    • The deadline for the Financial Aid Application is February 15. We realize that many families have not yet completed their 2022 tax return by this deadline. The Financial Aid Committee will consider an application complete as long as we receive your 2021 tax return and your 2022 W-2 and/or Profit & Loss Statements (if you are self-employed) by February 15. The 2022 tax return should be submitted as soon as it is completed.
    • Completing the Financial Aid Application by the deadline allows the Financial Aid Award to be communicated at the same time as the Admission Decision.
    • Questions? Contact Financial Aid Manager Lisa Dean at 303-914-2516.
  • NOTIFICATION | FEB 24

In conjunction with other Denver-area independent schools, Colorado Academy sends Middle School admission decisions (Grades 6-8) by email at 4:00 p.m. MST on Friday, February 24, 2023.
