Homework Plan
2008-2009
The
35-minutes, 4 days a week third grade expectation is divided in three specific
parts.
Once a
month, for a one week period, your child’s teacher may plan a special homework
activity instead of the reading
focus.
Focus #1 - Develop a Life-long
Habit of Reading
·
Students read at least 20-25
minutes every night, Monday through Thursday.
Focus - #2 – Develop & Improve
Math Fluency and Problem-Solving Skills
·
Students practice math facts at
least 5 minutes every night, Monday through Thursday.
·
On Mondays & Thursdays, a
math worksheet is sent home. The sheet
is due the following day.
Focus #3 - Develop & Improve Spelling and Writing
Skills
·
For the month of September, students
review the High Frequency Spelling List #1-199 as needed.
·
Starting in October, students study
for the Thursday Dictation Test at least 5 minutes every night, Monday through
Wednesday. Spelling for Thursday night
is to review words on the High Frequency Spelling List as needed.
