Colorado Academy has offered summer activities for metro area youth since 1951. Young people come from as far as Castle Rock, Evergreen and Parker, and a sizeable number of them are not students at Colorado Academy during the academic year. Summers at CA are much less formal. There is plenty of time for fun while being challenged either intellectually, physically, or both. A top-notch staff conducts all of the programs. Two full-size gymnasiums, five large playing fields, eight tennis courts, a baseball diamond, dozens of classrooms, a theater, a dining hall, four computer labs, spacious studio arts workrooms, a facility for vocal and instrumental music and a photography studio provide ample facilities for exciting and sophisticated programs. With a wide variety of offerings from computers to circus, day camp to lacrosse, rock climbing to photography, computer graphics to digital music, truly, there is something at CA in the summer for every school-age individual.

Colorado Academy is a nonprofit, independent, college preparatory school for students in grades pre-K through twelve, offering nonsectarian education and summer opportunities to any qualified student regardless of national origin, race or religion. Special needs children are considered on an individual basis.

Colorado Academy is situated on 94 acres of beautiful Colorado countryside in southwest Denver. Founded in 1906, CA is an independent, coeducational school serving approximately 875 students from preschool through high school. It is a campus where dynamic, outstanding academic programs are combined with an abundance of opportunities in the arts, athletics, experiential and service activities, and community life. Every student is encouraged to excel, to grow, to serve, to understand and to create.

Before & After Camp

Colorado Academy Summer Programs offer both BeforeCamp and AfterCamp programs. All Summer Programs participants—including those not in Day Camp—are eligible to attend these programs that take place from June 14-August 6. The BeforeCamp program is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and the AfterCamp program meets from 3:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. daily. The programs take place in a spacious room in Colorado Academy’s Lower School Building. Activities include both indoor and outdoor play. The BeforeCamp program features breakfast at 8:30. The AfterCamp program provides a snack at 4:15 p.m.

Fees for both programs are $8.00 per hour, calculated to the nearest quarter hour. Families who pick up children after 6:15 p.m. will be assessed a charge of $3.00 per minute beginning at 6:16 p.m. The phone number for Before/AfterCamp is (303) 914-2556.

Policies
Please read our Enrollment and Refund/Cancellation policies carefully, as they have changed.

Enrollment Deposit:

A non-refundable deposit of 40% is due at the time of registration. The balance of fees is due on or before June 1st. Your child’s enrollment in a program will be withdrawn if this balance is not received. A copy of an Immunization Certificate must accompany the application form to reserve a space.

Refunds, Cancellations and Changes:
Cancellations that are made prior to June 1 will forfeit the 40% enrollment deposit. Cancellations made after June 1 are fully non-refundable. There is no refund for days missed. Once a child is enrolled, any changes made to the original program are charged at $25 per notification of change. Colorado Academy reserves the right to withdraw a program in the event of insufficient enrollment. Should such action be necessary, all deposits and fees paid will be refunded. (Cancellations for medical reasons before camp begins must be accompanied by a letter from the child’s doctor. In this case, fees minus the nonrefundable deposit are refunded.)

Health Related Issues:
During Colorado Academy Summer Programs, close attention is paid to health issues of campers. The Director, Assistant Director, and camp counselors are certified in both CPR and First Aid through the American Heart Association. The staff works closely with a School Nurse Consultant to identify students with any health needs. The School Nurse Consultant appropriately trains camp staff and delegates healthcare responsibilities to them. It is essential that all information related to health or health needs be addressed completely. Because the camp staff is administering medications under RN delegation, a physician signature and a parent
signature are required for all medications, including any over-the-counter products. This is not only mandated under the delegatory clause of the Nurse Practice Act, it is also necessary for camp licensure. It also provides for the safe care of all the campers. Throughout the summer an RN is available for on-call consultation.
