Three Student Works Selected for Nationwide Photography Contest

Congratulations to seniors Isabel Chandler, Ali Altman, and Alexandra Bestick on being chosen for the 2016 Drexel Photography High School Contest Exhibition, which is put on by the College of Media Art and Design at Drexel University, a private university in Philadelphia.

The contest, which is open to all high school students, accepts submissions in black and white photography, color, silver prints and digital prints, and historical processes.

The Colorado Academy students submitted digital prints, including Isabel’s “Untitled,” Ali’s “flora,” and Alexandra’s “generous.” Alex has been taking photography at Colorado Academy since Middle School, while Isabel and Ali have been taking photography since ninth grade. All students are currently in the Upper School Senior Portfolio class.

Says Upper School Photography teacher Jesse Myers, “What an amazing way to honor three photographers who have put in years of dedication to their craft.  The work displayed showcases their individual talents and vision.”

A first, second, and third place winner will be announced at the exhibition, as well as three honorable mentions.

The photos will be on display at the photography gallery located at the Photography Facility on 33rd  and Arch Streets in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from February 11 through March 5, 2017. The opening will be held on Saturday, February 11 from 1 to 3 p.m.
