Mustang FH Loses in SemiFinals; Looks Toward Future

It was a great season for the Colorado Academy Field Hockey team, which made it to the semifinals this week and lost to Palmer Ridge in a close game. The score was 1-0.  This was the third time the Mustangs played the Bears this season, having played them in September when the Bears ended CA’s 78-game unbeaten streak. The two teams later tied in October.

Says Athletics Director Bill Hall, who credits much of the program’s success to the leadership and guidance of Head Coach Veronica Scott and her staff, “The lessons learned through victory and defeat are not always easy, but highly impactful.  The girls put themselves out there and fought valiantly against a strong Palmer Ridge team.”

In total, Mustangs Field Hockey has seen 14 state championship games: in ’77,’92, ’93, ’97, ’98, ’04, ’05, ’06, ’07, ’11, ’12, ’13, ’14, ’15. The program has won 7 titles dating back to 1977: ’92, ’93, ’97, ’12, ’13, ’14, and ’15. Additionally, the Mustangs made history last year when they became the first field hockey team in Colorado to win four consecutive state titles.

Says Hall: “I look forward to watching the progression of the program and to see how this playoff result propels the future players and teams.”
