Parent Preview Provides Access to School in Action

For many parents, Colorado Academy’s Admission Open House, called Parent Preview, which will be held on October 26 and 27 from 8:30 to 11 a.m., provides an authentic look inside a real school day at CA. Parents have the opportunity to observe classes in session, tour the campus, speak to Head of School Dr. Mike Davis, and ask questions to a panel of students in each division.

According to CA’s Director of Admission and Financial Aid, Catherine Laskey, what best characterizes Parent Preview is simple: access. Many parents leave with their questions answered and a genuine feel for the campus,  the curriculum and a sense of community at Colorado Academy.

Here are just a few reasons why some of our current parents say they chose Colorado Academy for their children:

Alisa Knepper, 11th Grade Parent
I remember thinking, while I was sitting in the Parent Preview, how lucky the children are who attended CA. I wanted my daughter (and in a couple of years, my son) to have all the opportunities that CA could offer them. My daughter loves to learn, and I could see that the faculty and staff at CA would respect and foster her love of learning. I loved that the school is “forward thinking,” and that faculty and staff are always willing to look at themselves and at their students and know when to implement new programs in order to keep the school and the learning relevant.

Nina Henderson Moore, 7th and 9th Grade Parent
We chose CA for our children, because they told us CA was the best fit for them.

Kellie Arpin, Kindergarten Parent
Parent Preview was a big reason we chose CA. Dr. Davis' talk (with the parents) resonated with my husband and me--especially his vision for the school and his emphasis on resilience. We had a wonderful tour guide who was warm and sincere, and she spoke a lot about what the CA community had meant to her family. The campus is beautiful, and we love the balance of academics, arts, and athletics.
Candice Gottlieb, 3rd Grade Parent
We chose CA for our daughters because of the feeling of warmth, inclusiveness, strong sense of community, combined with amazing academics!

Amy McPheeters, 3rd and 6th Grade Parent
When we were first looking at CA more than seven years ago for our then-4-year old son, we wanted to make sure we found a school that would foster his love of learning and provide a springboard for this shy kid to grow and flourish.  After visiting Colorado Academy for the very first time, my husband and I looked at each other and said "Wow!"  We felt an instant connection to the campus and the faculty members we met; we could see our son feel comfortable in that first Kindergarten classroom we visited.  Now, seven years later, that shy little four-year old is a Middle Schooler, actively participating in class and on the soccer field, maintaining positive lasting friendships, advocating for himself, and thriving.

Jackie Forster-Cooper, 6th Grade Parent
From her first visit and first days of Lower School, our daughter fell in love with CA!  She values CA's warm and caring environment and the opportunities that CA offers like private music lessons and recitals, iPads, international exchanges, experiential learning and outdoor activities that you typically do not see in Lower School.  Now in her second month of Middle School, she is embracing new friends, the breadth of classes offered, student council, competitive sports, academic competitions, music, and so much more. We unquestionably made the right choice in choosing CA and are thankful every day!

Marsha Giordano, 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th Grade Parent
The talk by Mike Davis at our parent preview sealed my desire for our children to attend CA as he spoke about how our children come first, and how CA is always looking to be better,  to stay on top of educational and technological trends, and to create new and different ways of learning.
