CA Takes First Place at Coding Competition for Second Year in a Row

Congratulations to CA’s Advanced Coding team, which won first place at the Lockheed Martin Annual Code Quest competition for the second year in a row. The winning team was made up of seniors Zach Kasica and Maryam Husain, and junior Ethan Jaszewski.

Code Quest is a computer programming competition consisting of 15 – 20 questions created by Lockheed Martin engineers and computer programmers. Teams of two to three students work together for 2.5 hours to answer the questions and complete the Quest.

Thirty-seven teams from around the state competed at the event. There, Colorado Academy was also represented by a novice team made up of seniors Kate Ryan and Julia Kelly, and junior Noah Mushkin.

Says Upper School Computer Science teacher Kim Jans, who accompanied the group to Code Quest, “Even at this very busy time of year, the students met on Friday afternoon to discuss strategy and practice coding.  They are very dedicated kids!”

The winning Advanced Coding team will now be entered into the National Competition and results will be announced later this week.
