CA Senior Performs as Guest Soloist with Colorado Symphony
Colorado Academy senior George Younger recently performed as a guest soloist with the Colorado Symphony at the Boettcher Concert Hall, playing Piano Concerto No. 3 in D major, “Youth” III Presto. He was invited to play after placing first in the Steinway Piano Concerto Competition last November.
George, who has studied with CA piano teacher Joyce Li for 11 years, received a standing ovation from the audience, which included many CA students. Says Li of his performance, “I never dreamt I would be able to take one of my students this far.”
The Piano Concerto No. 3 was written in 1952 by Russian composer Dmitri Kabalevsky for young performers, and is one of three concertos.
