CA Students Take First Place in Coding Competition

Colorado Academy seniors Justin Connerly, Liam Bush, and sophomore Ethan Jaszewski earned first place out of nearly 20 teams from Denver that competed in Lockheed Martin’s Code Quest, a computer programming competition held on April 18 in cities across the U.S.

Developed to inspire tomorrow’s “coders” to pursue information technology degrees, Code Quest challenged each team to complete a series of timed problems in the computer programming language JAVA.

Says Upper School Technology Coordinator Kimberly Jans, who accompanied the students to the competition, “It was a wonderful opportunity to interact with others who are also interested in Computer Science. It was also a great opportunity to see the amazing facilities at Lockheed Martin and learn more about how advantageous a career in Computer Science might be.”

Colorado Academy was represented by four teams in total at the competition – Two other Advanced Teams made up of seniors Noah Herbst, Mac Connolly, Harrison Chang, and Michael Fuller, and juniors Maryam Husain and Zach Kasica, as well as a Novice Team, made up of sophomores Grace Dorgan, Andrew Maffei, and Jonah Reeman, all computer programming students at CA.

Colorado Academy’s winning team may advance to the national Code Quest competition. There, the team with the highest score will be awarded the national winner. Congratulations and good luck!
