Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Sean Stedeford Named Coach of the Year for Region

Colorado Academy Girls Varsity Coach Sean Stedeford was recently recognized with the NSCAA Rocky Mountain Region Girls High School Coach of the Year award. Stedeford, also an Athletics and Physical Education teacher at CA, will receive the award at the NSCAA national convention in January at the high school awards breakfast.

A committee representing each region with the NSCAA, which represents eight regions throughout the country, meets in order to award one winner from each respective region.

Says coach Stedeford, “The award was completely unexpected. Knowing our girls soccer program is gaining the respect of coaches outside of Colorado is very rewarding and something I take with immense pride. The award is a real testament to the work we do as coaches and the environment we have created for our student athletes to achieve great things.”

As recipient of the NSCAA Rocky Mountain Region Girls High School Coach of the Year award, Stedeford is automatically eligible for the NSCAA National Award, which is also presented at the Awards Banquet.

According to CA Athletic Director Bill Hall, Stedeford, who also serves at the assistant coach of the Boys Varsity Soccer team, has done "a tremendous job leading the CA girls soccer program and assisting the CA Boys Soccer team.  His ability to plan and prepare for the rigors and challenges of a season are exemplary.  Sean is a credit to the Colorado Academy community and the soccer program."

Stedeford has helped lead the girls to three state championship games, earning the title in 2014. He was named 3A Coach of the Year in 2014 and has twice received the NSCAA Parochial/Private Coach of the Year award for Colorado in 2012 and 2014. However, this is his first time receiving the Coach of the Year award for the region.
