CA Singers Chosen for All-State

Twelve Colorado Academy vocal music students have been selected to perform in the All-State Choir Festival coming up in 2015. Congratulations to CA Upper School students Jack Funk, Matthew Johnson, Tyler Kelly, Andrew MacPhail, Jackie Melberg, Emily Mott, Joe Monahan, Evan Rabb, Emily Rockwell, and Kate Rydberg, who have been selected to perform in the High School All-State Choir.

The Colorado All-State Choir Festival features 500 of the finest high school singers in Colorado. These students have all passed two rigorous auditions and are showcased in three different choirs: a Men’s Choir, Women’s Choir, and Mixed Choir.

This year, All-State performances will welcome to the podium three of the finest choral conductors in the United States: Dr. Jeffrey Douma of the Yale School of Music directing the Mixed Choir, Dr. Sandra Snow of Michigan State University directing the Women’s Choir, and Dr. Eugene Rogers of the University of Michigan directing the Men’s Choir.

In performances running concurrently with the high school performers, Middle School students Sachin Mehta and Ari Fierer have been chosen to perform in the Middle School All-State Choir. “To have this many of our students represented year after year among the state’s top singers is remarkable,” says CA’s Cindy Jordan.

It is a testament to CA’s music program and the dedication and talent of these performers,” she says. All performances will take place February 5-7, 2015 at the Colorado Convention Center in Downtown Denver.
