Thanks for Giving

Mike Davis, Ph.D.
It is about this time each year when I realize how much I appreciate the rhythm of a school. While from the outside, it may be tough to imagine that a place with 950 students and hundreds of thousands of classroom experiences, events, recitals, athletic competitions, trips and expeditions can keep a real rhythm, it does. Decidedly, it is tradition that holds us all together.

Tradition provides for all of us something that is predictable in an increasingly unpredictable world. Perhaps that explains just some of the endurance of a tradition like Thanksgiving.

As with any annual milestone, Thanksgiving is a good time to take stock – and it is a great time to say thank you to our CA community -- to so many of you who share your time and your talents and open your hearts and your wallets in support of Colorado Academy and its many endeavors – from Horizons to H.O.P.E., and from work in Haiti to efforts here at home.  I especially want to thank our faculty and staff for upholding their tradition of supporting our Annual Campaign again this year – that’s 100 percent participation for the tenth year in a row.

And as we will soon join with family and friends to celebrate, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all we have to be thankful for.

Here at CA, I am grateful for so many things: our talented and dedicated faculty and staff, our beautiful campus, our caring and supportive community, and those who bring us altogether – our students. It is an honor to be part of this family with you.

As you give thanks this season, we hope that you will remember Colorado Academy in your thoughts and actions. You and your generosity allow us to fulfill our mission of educating young people and creating a better world.
