Ann Bancroft is the first known woman in history to cross both polar ice caps to reach the North and South Poles. She has dogsledded 1,000 miles from the Northwest Territories in Canada to the North Pole as the only female member of the 1986 Steger International Polar Expedition. In 1993, she led a group of four American women on skis on a 76-day, 660-mile expedition to the South Pole. In the fall of 2014, Bancroft and Liv Arnesen will lead a group of women on an expedition down the River Ganges from Gaumukh to the Bay of Bengal. Each of the women will represent key water challenges on their continent. Find out what this inspiring and intrepid explorer says about leadership, risk, and changing the world.
