Helpful Information for New Students and their Families
|Baseline Concussion Testing for MS and US Students|
For the coming school year, Colorado Academy has an important new tool to help manage concussions sustained by students while participating in sports or other activities. CA has acquired a software tool called ImPACT (Immediate Post Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing). This program will assist physicians and CA athletic trainers in evaluating and treating concussions. ImPACT is used to HELP determine the severity of the head injury and whether the injury has fully healed. In order to be useful, baseline testing of all Middle and Upper School athletes must be completed before the start of the school year. This non-invasive test is set up in video-game format and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete after the student-athlete has entered personal and concussion history information. The test tracks information such as memory, reaction time, speed, and concentration. Tests will be administered on the CA Campus from June 19 to August 9. Click here to register for a time to take the test. Thank you for your cooperation in completing this exam. Please note, parent permission for the test is required. Click here for the permission form.
